{Local: Al Furat News} The High Commission for Human Rights appealed to the three presidencies to intervene in order to find a legal mechanism to administer the commission temporarily until the formation of the new council, indicating that 600 of its employees were deprived of their salaries following the letter of the Presidency of the House of Representatives, which withdrew the powers of the current Board of Commissioners.
The spokesperson for the Commission, Ali Al-Bayati, said in a press statement, "The current Board of Commissioners has suspended administrative and legal tasks in response to the last letter of the Presidency of the Parliament, considering that the legal and administrative powers of the current Board of Commissioners have expired according to the Commission's law due to the completion of the four years of the current council's life."
He cautioned that "the parliament's delay in forming the new Board of Commissioners - which seems to not be achieved before at least months due to the failure to convene sessions in Parliament and the delay in forming the Committee of Experts - led to the absence of the legal body that manages the commission and supervises its work," noting that "even the issue of spending The salaries of staff in the Commission are suspended this month, and possibly for other months due to the same issue.”
