This morning, Tuesday, the academic Dr. Kamal Al-Basri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Institute for Economic Reform and former Deputy Minister of Finance, passed away.
The late occupied a commendable place among his colleagues and all his acquaintances, especially in the institutions of higher education and scientific research, which communicated with their departments and universities as an advisor and expert, and embodied his scientific life and his academic work as a science and in the interest of promoting good citizenship, the rule of law, good governance and comprehensive reform in state institutions.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi, mourned the departure of the honorable academic and educator, Professor Dr. Kamal Al-Basri, after a life full of giving and the journey that he translated into action and supportive stances for Iraq and its people in various fields, as he worked as an agent, consultant and economic expert in the Ministry of Finance, who contributed to preparing strategic plans and financial, monetary and banking programs. The successful one that contributed to keeping pace with the difficult financial conditions that Iraq went through, and he had a wide interest in the field of reforming the administrative and financial system and how to deal with crises.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabil Kazem, offered his condolences on the passing of academic Dr. Kamal Al-Basri.
Kazem said in a statement received by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "we received with more sadness the news of the departure of the honorable academic and educator, Professor Dr. Kamal Al-Basri, who answered the call of his Lord after a life full of giving and the scientific biography that he translated into action and positions in support of Iraq and its people in various fields."
