{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Agriculture explained the reason for the high prices of five agricultural crops in the local markets.
"There is a local shortage of tomatoes, watermelons, garlic and onions, in addition to an increase in demand coinciding with the Ashura visit," Undersecretary Mahdi al-Jubouri said in a press statement.
He pointed out that "and in the transition of each season to another between winter to spring and between summer and autumn, there is a shortage of agricultural crops, and we need to import to meet the need of local demand."
Al-Jubouri reassured farmers and farmers about the winter agricultural plan, pointing out that "the preparation of the winter agricultural plan will be 100% like last year, because there is a full water reservoir for it."

Yesterday, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to open the import of 5 crops (tomatoes, onions, soybeans, watermelons, garlic) from all border crossings, with the exception of the tomato crop, to be imported through the ports of Zorbatia, Al-Sheeb, Shalamjah and Al-Mandhiriya.
She explained that the decision to open the import of these crops for a temporary period came due to the scarcity of production, which caused a rise in prices that clearly affected the citizens.
