Today, Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the provision of three main factors to support farmers within the plan, while indicating that the winter plan will be similar to last year.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mahdi Sahar al-Jubouri, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency and followed by "Economy News", that "the ministry, in cooperation with water resources, discussed and approved the winter cultivation plan for the main strategic crops (wheat and barley) in addition to vegetable crops," noting that "the winter plan will be an approach For agricultural areas for the winter plan for the past year 2020".
He added that "due to the lack of financial allocations for the modern irrigation techniques program, the ministry was unable to contract with manufacturers to import axial and drip irrigation systems," noting that "this technology has a major role in rationing and rationalizing the quantities of water used in addition to increasing the productive yield of crops grown under supplementary irrigation." ",NS.
He explained that "the opportunity to import sprinkler irrigation systems by the private sector and sell them to farmers in the fertile lands for the economic feasibility of agriculture under supplementary irrigation is a good step."
He stated that "the ministry provides fertilizers and pesticides for the cultivation of winter vegetables, including those grown in greenhouses, which are of great importance in covering production costs, and achieving profitable profits for farmers if they are optimally managed through the use of high-yield seeds, an appropriate planting date, fertilization and control." on time and adequate ventilation.
He stressed that "the production of agricultural crops in greenhouses is economically rewarding and provides agricultural products at times when it is not possible to produce them with open cultivation, and thus the abundance of local production at all times and throughout the year.
