    The ministry's spokesman, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi told Al-Furat News: "We are now waiting for the results of inflation for the month of August, and we have not yet seen the mechanism of the increase or decrease in the size of inflation."
    He justified the reasons for the rise of some vegetables, especially tomatoes: “As a result of the lack of local produce and its scarcity, this is for the transitional period of crop cultivation and lasts for two months or a month and a half, and due to the lack of supply, there is an increase in demand according to economic theory.”
    Al-Hindawi added: "The Ministry of Agriculture allowed the import of this crop and some other crops."
    He pointed out: “The stability of the dollar exchange rates during the past month, according to the assessment of the customary market movement, with the exception of some materials. As for the first period of changing the exchange rate of the dollar, we witnessed a noticeable increase in the prices of some commodities and materials, which led to an increase in the inflation index to 4%, and then the indicators began to stabilize.” That is, we are talking about 0.7, 0.6 or 0.5%, or less than 1%, and these are the results of stability in the market movement and prices.”
    The Ministry of Planning announced, in a statement, an increase in the inflation rate during the month of July by (0.6%), compared to the previous month of June, when the rate of increase in inflation was (0.7%).
    Al-Hindawi, to this, led to the increase in the prices of the housing department, by (1.5%), affected by the increase in the prices of water and electricity supplies, as a result of the increase in subscription wages to generators in most of the governorates of Iraq.
