Allawi's media office stated, September 15, that the latter "received in his office Matthew Tueller, the US ambassador to Iraq, and they discussed the latest developments in the regional situation and efforts to achieve security and stability in it, and the elections file."
According to the statement, Allawi expressed his "fear of the increasing reluctance to participate in the elections, due to the lack of a safe and stable environment for them to be conducted independently and impartially," stressing the need to "remediate these obstacles and work to overcome them as soon as possible."
