Independent High Electoral Commission clarified, on Saturday, the mechanism for the participation of voters abroad in the upcoming parliamentary elections, while confirming that their cards cannot be used by their relatives who are inside Iraq.
According to the official agency, Muhannad Mustafa, a member of the media of the Commission, said that "the voters abroad and given the cancellation of the elections abroad in the upcoming electoral process, they have the right to participate by coming to Iraq and being in their areas of residence and going to the electoral centers to participate in their electoral entitlement."
Mustafa added that "what is being talked about about the use of their electoral cards by others, who may be their brothers or relatives who are in Iraq, we affirm that it is not possible to benefit from these cards without the presence of the people themselves."
Regarding the electoral campaign of the candidates, Mustafa explained that "the media campaign for the political entities was launched on the ninth of last July, that is, after the draw for the names of the contestants in the elections, and it will continue until 24 hours before the special poll, that is, on the seventh with the month of next October."
He stressed that "on the seventh of next October, electoral propaganda will stop with regard to the entities, and the electoral silence that prevents the exercise of electoral propaganda in any way for the parties will begin."
He pointed out that "monitoring violations of this propaganda is carried out through monitoring committees in the governorate offices, and then, after monitoring and documenting them officially, to the governor's office, and then to the national office, where there are specialized committees to decide on them and inform the entity or candidate of the need to remove this violation, and then Dealing with it if it is not removed by the candidate.” Ended 29/A 43
