, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Elections Affairs, Hussein Al-Hindawi, confirmed, on Friday, that the electoral silence begins only one day before the start of the voting process in the elections, and not before that.
Al-Hindawi explained to the official news agency, "Candidates have the right to continue their electoral campaigns even 24 hours before the start of the elections, which means that the electoral silence will begin at six o'clock in the morning on Saturday, corresponding to 9/10/2021," noting that " This determination is in accordance with the provisions of Article (22) of the Elections Law No. (9) of 2020.”
He pointed out that "the commission will take the necessary legal measures against anyone who violates the terms of electoral campaigns and does not abide by the regulations and instructions issued by them," stressing "the need to adhere to the terms of the electoral conduct document regarding the rules that must be adhered to in the elections by leaders of Iraqi political parties."
