Allawi said in a press conference attended by / Mawazine News /: "We warned early against holding elections without creating an appropriate atmosphere," noting that "we decided to boycott the elections and expected that they would result in sedition and falsification of the will of the voters."
He added that "the participation rate announced by the Electoral Commission is unreasonable and did not exceed 12%," calling on "the Federal Supreme Court not to ratify the election results."
Allawi called on the United Nations mission to "disclose the evidence it possesses of tampering with the elections," stressing: "Our failure to participate in the elections was due to reasons including financial and administrative corruption and foreign interference."
He pointed out that "a national conference must be held to contain any problems that may result from the elections, as we have reached the point of war and there are parties threatening other parties," noting that "the minority that participated in the elections has no right to determine the fate of the majority that boycotted it."
