  Baghdad: Omar Abdul Latif

Yesterday, Monday, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed the need to unify the national ranks, advance the country's supreme interests and meet the aspirations of the people, while noting that objections to the election results are a guaranteed right that is dealt with according to the law.
"We are celebrating the fragrant anniversary of the Prophet's birthday, while our dear country is facing huge challenges and major national entitlements," Saleh said in a statement on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday.
And he indicated that "respecting the will of the people, the constitutional process and the peaceful path in the country is a national duty," explaining that "objections to the election results are a guaranteed right confirmed by the constitution, electoral regulations and laws, and that dealing with them is in a legal and peaceful context without compromising public security, public property and the safety of the country." .
In the meantime, the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) revealed that about 1,360 appeals against the first announcement of the results were responded to.
The Director of the Media and Mass Communication Department, Hassan Salman, told Al-Sabah: "The number of appeals against the first announcement of the results, which came less than 24 hours after the end of the general vote, amounted to 1,360," noting that "all appeals were submitted to the judicial authority, which played its role. Restore it completely.”
He added that "the Commission will finish (today) receiving appeals with the preliminary results announced last Saturday, after it opened the door for that for a period of 3 days, starting from the day following the announcement of the results."
And Salman indicated that "those appeals will be referred, over a period of 10 days, to the judicial body specialized in elections, which is affiliated with the Supreme Judicial Council and is composed of 3 judges, for final consideration, as its decisions will be binding on the Commission."
