{Local: Al Furat News} The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers sent an explanatory book to the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, regarding the tax imposed on lawyers.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Bar Association, {Al-Furat News} received a copy of it, "The Tax Authority of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers clarified the method of tax accounting and the allowances and their amount, as she stressed in her speech that all economic activities, including the legal profession, are subject to the annual controls set by the Authority before specialized".
The authority clarified that “the activity of the lawyers segment is large and is not controlled by it - according to it - synonymous with the lack of information received by the General Authority for Taxes about its work activity, whether it is from the courts or from other state departments, and the fact that the authority is able to verify the facts of the case. The tax for the lawyer and the rights of the treasury at the same time.”
She explained, "It has established annual controls for the profits (of the lawyer's profession) and with the minimum limits for estimation and in an easy way. All circumstances surrounding the work of this segment have been taken into account," noting that "the profits set for the profession of lawyers are much lower than that of some lawyers, the least of which are some of the lawyers."
