    The General Company for Ports of Iraq discussed with its Iranian counterpart in the city of Muhammarah ways of joint cooperation between the two sides and providing marine facilities in the Shatt al-Arab.
    The administrative assistant of the ports of Iraq, Captain Adel Ali Dasher, said, according to a company statement, that he "met the director general of the southern Iranian ports and the advanced cadre and discussed with him the exchange of experiences and providing the best port services to develop maritime trade in the Shatt al-Arab."
    He continued, "It was discussed ways to develop communications between the ports of Iraq and Iranian ports to manage the safety of navigation in the Shatt Al-Arab Canal and to cooperate in the field of saving lives and combating marine pollution," noting that "he was a representative of the Ministry in these discussions, in addition to the Assistant Director General of Maritime Transport, Chief Naval Engineers."
