    {Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Water Resources has agreed with foreign companies to reconsider the designs of the Makhoul Dam in Salah al-Din Governorate, which is hoped to start its work at the beginning of next year.
    The director of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs in the ministry, Kazem Sahar, said in a press statement that "the project to build and rehabilitate the Makhul dam, protects the areas south of Samarra and Baghdad from the danger of floods, and was allocated by the Ministry of Planning for the start of the 2021 budget, for its budget allocations and its budgets. Makhoul, whose completion rate has reached advanced stages and will end at the end of this year, in addition to the construction of housing complexes for working owners, the erection of concrete plants, and the excavations of the site.”
    He noted " the agreement with foreign companies to re - examine the designs that have been prepared previously for the establishment of the dam, as well as to address a number of companies, including a resource company water companies and other foreign Italian, British, Serbian, processing machinery and equipment for the barrier asphalt inside the bases, and review also designs special antiquities close to the dam, conducting excavations, and searching for archaeological sites.”
    Seher pointed out to "the agreement also with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, and to communicate with the Sharqat Archaeological Controller, who is responsible for the Ashur Citadel, which is included in the World Heritage List, in order to protect it from the occurrence of floods." 
    "The castle site is higher than the level of storage dam, as the body conditions with foreign companies to re - design project developed for extra protection to the castle of Assyria," adding that " the Tigris River is divided into three branches, one of which passes close to the castle, and the Commission has taken measures By constructing a temporary dam for fear of flooding due to the branch near it, and protecting it from water erosion.”
    He stressed that "the project to construct the dam and divert the stream needs a period of 4-5 years to be completed."
    He noted that the month of "all archaeological sites will remain prominent above the water surface, and can project operating companies processed, and will be created after the completion of the immediate requirements of the feasibility study and provide allocations at the beginning of Amalmqubl."
    For his part, general manager of exploration and the search for relics in the Ministry of Culture Ali Shalgham: "It was the conclusion of a contract with the American University in Sulaimaniya, has a number of international bodies joined in order to work at the dam site, and will begin its work after the completion of the preparation of plans and studies, as The site was visited in the field in coordination with the water resources, and all local and international bodies will start research and exploration work next year.
    And he indicated that "there is sufficient time to secure and fortify the archaeological sites and to conduct excavations, survey work and their requirements."
