Privatization and the rise in the price of the dollar enhance the gains of the influential parties.. Millions of Iraqis are below the poverty line

A report by the Ministry of Planning in Iraq, about 4.5 million Iraqis living below the poverty line, as its percentage jumped from 20% to 31%, prompts the question about future treatments for this imminent danger, which is reinforced by the Corona crisis and the rise in the price of the dollar.
Economist Manar Al-Obaidi says that out of every 3 Iraqis, there is one Iraqi below the poverty level.
Iraq's annual revenues exceed 100 trillion dinars, while the domestic product is 200 trillion dinars.
Al-Obaidi added that the problem lies in the distribution of wealth, the basic dependence on the public sector, and the weak organization of work in the private sector.
He added that what we need today is a clear strategy aimed at reducing poverty levels and working to support the private sector in all possible ways to absorb the existing unemployment, noting that this will contribute to a fair distribution of wealth in Iraq.
Al-Obaidi called for building a clear strategy and working to implement it by successive governments, in addition to careful monitoring by the regulatory authorities of the levels of achievement of these strategies.
Muhammad Hussein, a shop owner, says that the Iraqi citizen is concerned, as the price of the dollar is still high in the Iraqi market, despite the price of oil reaching 85 dollars, which affects the prices of goods in the Iraqi market.
Economic reports say that the Iraqi state has proven its failure to lift the Iraqis out of their bitter reality, and has caused an increase in the poverty rate in the country.
Despite the enormous oil wealth in Iraq, only one person out of every 3 people still lives below the poverty line, in a country that suffers from rampant corruption and high unemployment rates among young people.
Accusations are directed at influential parties that they benefit from the rise in the dollar, and that they benefit even from the privatization that Iraq accepts.
The poverty survey for previous years showed Al-Muthanna governorate, which is the second largest governorate in the country, the first with the highest poverty rate of 52 percent, followed by Diwaniyah 48 percent, Maysan 45 percent and Dhi Qar 44 percent.
The poverty rate in Nineveh Governorate reached 37.7 percent, followed by Diyala 22.5 percent, Wasit 19 percent, Salah al-Din 18 percent, Anbar 17 percent, Basra 16 percent, Najaf 12.5 percent, Karbala 12 percent, Babylon 11 percent. cent.
The lowest poverty rate in the capital, Baghdad, was 10 percent, followed by Dohuk, 8.5 percent, Kirkuk, 7.6 percent, and Erbil, 6.7 percent.
