Barzani asked for more aid to the Kurdistan government

In light of ongoing protests in the Kurdistan region, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said that more migrants trapped at the European borders "will return voluntarily."
Barzani said, according to a government statement, that "international smuggling networks used migrants for political purposes," noting that "more than 400 citizens have voluntarily returned to their homes, and he expects more to arrive soon."
Barzani spoke in a phone call from the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, according to the statement, calling for "the mobilization of the full support of the European Union to provide urgent humanitarian relief to the stranded families."
