(Local: Al Furat News) The pharmacist's interview explained the reasons for the discrepancy in drug prices.
The head of the Pharmacists Syndicate, Mustafa Mohamed, said in a press statement, "The high prices of medicines and their differences are due to reasons, including the type of origin, its credibility and scientific reputation, and the difference in the location of the pharmacy."
And he indicated, "Organizing the work of pharmacies and addressing the problem requires the formation of a committee by the Ministry of Health to conduct an annual evaluation of all medicines and medical equipment, in addition to activating the supervisory side in following up on pharmacies and stores for the presence of non-specialized workers in them, and checking and examining medicines and ensuring their expiry date due to the presence of drugs that interfere cross borders unofficially and legally.
He pointed out that "the law on setting prices for medicines will be clearly applied at the beginning of next year 2022, as it was supposed to be applied some time ago because the pricing was ready in the Ministry of Health and with the follow-up of the Minister and the Pharmacists Syndicate, where great steps were taken in this regard, but the problem is in changing the dollar exchange rate. This led to the large difference in the import price, which led to the suspension of the project."
It is noteworthy that medicine in private pharmacies witnesses a discrepancy in prices or its high prices, despite the similarity of most of its origins and therapeutic effects. health and economic.
The Ministry of Health previously called for setting controls to determine prices in pharmacies, based on complaints related to the discrepancy in their prices, especially in private pharmacies and from one governorate to another.
