On Sunday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed a new plan to boost production and overcome problems at the distribution level.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Musa Al-Abadi, said in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by “Nass” (December 5, 2021), that “the ministry is proceeding with a new plan and is striving to implement it effectively. Thousands of megawatts, as well as the introduction of new transmission lines and transformer stations that will enter service in the months of (February) and (May) next year, and the ministry is continuing to rehabilitate and support the distribution sector, in addition to completing a comprehensive study to proceed with the electronic collection project.

And he indicated that "the plans and strategy of the ministry in force, whether emergency or permanent, major international companies such as (General Electric, Siemens, Schneider and IBB) and Turkish and other Iranian companies merge with them, so the volume of work is large in the field of electric power in Iraq, but it is dependent on it. By providing financial support and loans and including projects in the general budget of the state and the Ministry of Planning.
Al-Abadi added that "the plans and the size of the companies working with the Ministry of Electricity are sufficient to create a promising file for energy in the sectors of production, transmission and distribution."
He pointed out that "the improvement of energy in Iraq and the continuation of the electricity supply without interruption, requires an increase in our production capacities, and what the Ministry of Electricity is striving to do in terms of periodic maintenance and emergency maintenance to complete the obstetric units, in order to be ready for the peak of winter or next summer, is not enough." He explained that "there is a difference between supply and demand, while the supply of electricity in the country has reached 21,145 megawatts, and we need to cover Iraq with 35,000 megawatts, noting that there is an increase in demand and an increase in growth by 10% for the population, so we need to keep pace with the growth Hosting 1500 megawatts annually.

He continued by saying, "With the improvement of electric power production, we need to proceed with adding generating stations and complex obstetric cycles, and installing cooling systems in our stations, and we need to drain the energy produced through transmission lines through transformational stations, and to strengthen the distribution sector, which is the biggest problem, and to address the lack of Equitable distribution between regions, and addressing the problems resulting from the destruction of infrastructure in the governorates that were occupied by (ISIS) and were deliberately and completely destroyed.

He also explained that "the transformation of agricultural areas into residential areas, added burdens on the network, in addition to abuses and losses of electrical energy, which are not calculated and unpaid and the citizen refrains from paying money for them, and therefore we need a great work even though the plan exists through the five-year plan that ensured Thus, implementable solutions have been developed, so we need government decisions to implement, in addition to the ministry’s need for the fuel plan, because the installation of stations is useless, and there is a decline in water releases, whether for steam or gas stations, and this is within the Cold War for water, which is more severe than a war Gas and fuel, and therefore the Ministry of Electricity needs to provide these factors in order to succeed.”
