Minister of Commerce Alaa Al-Jubouri discussed, with the Pakistani ambassador in Baghdad, Ahmed Amjad Ali, activating economic and trade relations between the two countries and ways to develop them.
Minister al-Jubouri stressed during the meeting, according to a ministry statement received by Mawazine News, "the importance of activating trade and economic relations between Iraq and Pakistan and finding new mechanisms for the Iraqi private sector to deal with the private sector in Pakistan."
The minister added that "Iraq seeks to activate its economic relations with various countries of the world and benefit from economic expertise, and engage the Iraqi private sector in real partnerships with its Pakistani counterpart," noting "the importance of the Iraqi-Pakistani committee holding its meetings in order to finalize all outstanding issues between the two parties."
Minister Al-Jubouri stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of holding the specialized exhibition for Pakistani products, which will be held early next year, given its importance in presenting all Pakistani industries and in various fields to the Iraqi private sector," pointing out "to encourage Pakistani companies to enter into investments within the Iraqi provinces and activate the committee." The joint Iraqi-Pakistan, due to its positive impact in activating and developing economic relations between the two countries, as well as the importance of obtaining Pakistani support for Iraq in negotiations with the World Trade Organization to obtain full membership in it.
Al-Jubouri also stressed, "the importance of urging Pakistani companies to participate seriously and actively in international and specialized exhibitions that are held in Iraq, especially the Baghdad International Fair."
For his part, the Pakistani ambassador confirmed his country's government's desire to "develop economic and trade relations with Iraq, in light of the developments in the Iraqi economy," noting that "Pakistan will hold two specialized exhibitions in Baghdad and Erbil early next year to display all Pakistani products."
The ambassador added that "these exhibitions will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and visions between the private sector in Iraq and Pakistan and activate the level of cooperation between these two important sectors in both countries." Ended 29/A 4
