, Minister of Planning Khaled Batal Al-Najm announced, on Thursday, the start of preparing technical and economic feasibility studies, surveys and detailed designs for the ring road project in Baghdad.
The media office of the Ministry of Planning stated, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the project for preparing feasibility studies was included in the investment budget of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities for the year 2021, at a cost of 76 billion and 400 million dinars."
He pointed out, "The Department of Roads and Bridges in the Ministry of Construction has been authorized to implement, taking into account compliance with the instructions and powers for implementing the investment budget," noting that "the Ring Road project represents an important development, urban and economic addition in the capital, Baghdad, because it will contribute to achieving several goals." Among them, removing the traffic congestion in the capital’s streets, and achieving development in many of the areas it passes through, in addition to the job opportunities that the project will provide.
The Minister of Planning added that "the road project comes within an integrated strategy for the development of the capital through the establishment of a system of annual roads, as well as the construction of the suspended train project and the Baghdad Metro," noting that "the proposed road network for implementation within the comprehensive development plan for the city of Baghdad for the year 2030, includes the construction of streets They are located within different areas serving the populated areas, and these streets include the construction of new bridges over the Tigris River, and new streets serving the new growth areas.” Ended 29/N33
