Iraq spends nearly a trillion dinars on the housing sector
A statement by the Fund's media office said today, "The total amounts disbursed in all governorates in the year 2021 amounted to 850,551,500,000 dinars," noting that "these amounts exceed what was disbursed in the year 2020 by more than double, in which the disbursed amounts amounted to 61,392,750,000." .
The statement indicated that "the number of electronic transactions that were actually accepted in the year 2021 amounted to (21.942) transactions, which is double the transactions accepted in the year 2020, and the number of transactions amounted to (12,325)."
The fund explained that "the number of exposed transactions in the year 2021 amounted to (45,345) transactions, which is double the transactions that were revealed in the year 2020 (25,036) transactions."
It is noteworthy that Iraq is suffering from a stifling housing crisis due to the increase in its population compared to the number of residential complexes, in addition to the inability of citizens with limited income to build their own housing unit due to the high cost of land and construction materials.
The Ministry of Construction and Housing estimates that Iraq needs more than three million housing units to fill the country's housing crisis.
