    Books / Zuhair Al-Fatlawi...
Destroyed streets, broken alleys, deadly roads, the Traffic Directorate and the Municipality of Baghdad harvest billions and go into the pockets of the spoilers. Ages and services are non-existent, and there is an ongoing fight over taking money, and the citizen is the victim. The streets are now dug and remain for several months without cladding, destruction of vehicles and many bumps, and we do not know where the coordination and follow-up between the Municipality and the Traffic Directorate are, and both of them accuse the other of corruption, negligence and neglect, as if each department is in another country.
There is no understanding and non-existent cooperation between them. Until now, some residential areas are complaining about the disappearance of the streets and the large number of excavations, and the trust goes to the small and high-end residential areas and does not provide services to the disadvantaged areas that were built several decades ago. Baghdad residents complain of traffic jams around the clock and in most areas, specifically in Karrada, Mansour, Adhamiya, Palestine Street, Al-Nahda and Al-Bayaa. The local and central governments are not moving to find a solution to this problem, according to officials, but observers believe that the large number of Iranian cars with the opening of the import door as before, without planning, has confused the capital's streets and made them heavier with cheap and bad wheels. The congestion did not subside despite the media campaigns adopted by local and foreign media organizations. Indeed, officials who appear on television to talk about traffic jams do not have a solution, but rather exchange accusations about government mismanagement and planning that negatively impacted the lives of citizens and exhausted them. Thousands of citizens grumble daily, especially in Baghdad, and say that the reality of transportation is a dangerous psychological state of tight nerves, tension and anger, because our mornings are harmful, and the traffic we suffer from has become a feature of our daily lives and does not expand the roads and a sustainable lie for the Baghdad suspended train, and the journey from which Supposed to spend a quarter of an hour in Baghdad, losing two hours of our time.” He explains that “the congestion crisis in Baghdad has penetrated most of the movement’s joints in the capital, to the point that Baghdad seems paralyzed most of the time.
