Earth News/ Member of Parliament, Mahma Khalil Ali Agha, demanded today, Saturday, the launch of an urgent national relief campaign for the displaced, funded by the state's emergency budget.
Agha said in a statement, received by Earth News, that "what is happening to the displaced people who live between the hammer of freezing cold in the open, and the anvil of settling political scores, is a disgrace on the forehead of humanity and the claimant of human rights."
He added, "Despite the suffering of our people in Sinjar from cold and hunger, Turkish planes come to bomb the PKK in the city, describing this practice as a new genocide that wants to uproot the Yazidis and minorities from the homeland."
The deputy called on "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to hold an emergency session to study and solve the problem," warning against "the government taking a spectator position, because this matter will put it before the legal and moral accountability before its people."
He stressed that "Al-Kazemi should go immediately to the camps, accompanied by all those concerned and those in charge of the file of the displaced, to end this great human suffering, and to rid them of the difficult atmosphere and conditions that lack the most basic necessities of life and human rights."
"We demand the United Nations to carry out its humanitarian and moral duties and to allocate urgent funds to house the displaced, because humanitarian aid does not stand in front of a religion, sect, race or colour," he said.
He referred to "the countries of the international coalition, which must help and rehabilitate the displaced, because it is considered among his responsibilities and pledges to help Iraq and rid the Iraqi people of the suffering they are exposed to."
Agha called on “everyone to end this suffering before regretting the occurrence of a new humanitarian catastrophe, which is inconsistent with the material and human capabilities that Iraq possesses, especially in light of the existence of a material surplus represented by high oil prices, and Iraq repaying what it owed to its neighbor Kuwait, as Iraq can use these funds.” To end the suffering of the displaced.
