Iraq grants large investment licenses in the field of solar energy
In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, the authority's media said that the authority's president, Suha Daoud Najjar, received today the Minister of Environment Jassem Abdul Aziz Hammadi, and his accompanying delegation, and discussed with him a number of issues of common interest, foremost of which are renewable energy projects.
The head of the authority stressed that Iraq is one of the countries that strongly support the establishment of renewable energy projects on its territory, and that the authority, within its main directions, encourages investors and capital to establish these projects in accordance with international standards, indicating that the authority has granted large investment licenses in the field of solar energy with its willingness to cooperate with the Ministry of Environment. In promoting the establishment of renewable energy and eco-tourism projects that would enhance Iraq's environmental standing, it is also working on reviving a number of areas in southern Iraq and providing job opportunities for the residents of those areas.
For his part, Minister Hammadi pointed to the importance of establishing projects concerned with the environment in Iraq, including projects for recycling waste, renewable energy and eco-tourism for their importance in reducing carbon emissions in the country and providing clean energy, noting that Iraq owns water bodies such as the marshes, which are the first human settlement on sweet water. It is one of the best places in the world for winter tourism.
