    Several countries are seeking economic openness with Iraq as it represents promising opportunities for investment, in addition to possessing economic and commercial components that serve countries wishing to strengthen and develop their relations, in order to achieve mutual benefit for Iraq and those countries, including Azerbaijan, whose ambassador to Iraq, Nasir Mamdov, discussed with the President of the Federation of Businessmen Ragheb Reda Blaibl develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
    During his meeting with the ambassador, Blebel stated, "The union's keenness to strengthen economic and trade ties with the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the meeting witnessed agreement on a set of points and axes to strengthen these relations."
    For his part, Mamdov said that "his country is looking forward to economic cooperation with Iraq, and that my meeting was fruitful, especially in light of the union's keenness to enhance economic and commercial cooperation."

    For his part, a member of the Board of Directors of the Iraqi Businessmen Union, Abdul Hassan Al-Ziyadi, stated that “during the meeting, preliminary agreements were signed, including granting the members of the union an entry visa, approving the union’s book and identity for those wishing to travel for commercial purposes, as well as signing a memorandum of understanding with Azerbaijani businessmen organizations.” .
    Al-Ziyadi added that "it was also agreed that the union would inform its counterparts of Azerbaijani businessmen of the investment opportunities available in Iraq, and that the union would be informed of all economic exhibitions and conferences that are being held in Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijani embassy in Baghdad would inform the union about the materials intended for export, and supply Union in the Commercial Directory (Yellow Page) for the purpose of distributing it among Iraqi businessmen to facilitate direct contact with Azerbaijani companies.”

    Al-Ziyadi stated that "during the meeting with the Azerbaijani ambassador, a project was proposed to form a joint Iraqi-Azerbaijani business council, similar to the Iraqi, French and other business councils, because Iraq has many investment opportunities in all fields."
    And he indicated that “the issue of activating tourism between the two countries is very important because Azerbaijan is one of the tourist countries, and quoting experiences from it activates the tourism sector in Iraq,” noting that “Azeri companies are serious about entering the Iraqi market to invest in it and promote trade exchange between the two countries, and that there will be An opportunity for Iraqi businessmen to invest in Azerbaijan.
    In the same context, the local government in Basra Governorate discussed with Mamdov the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between the two sides, while the Azerbaijani ambassador extended an official invitation to the Basra government to visit Azerbaijan.

    Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani said that “one of the most important commonalities between Basra and Azerbaijan is the issue of ports, which can develop this aspect in cooperation with the Iraqi Ports Company, in addition to the fact that there is a free zone in Azerbaijan, and it is possible to transfer this experience to FAO, as it is planned For the FAO to be a completely free zone.”
    He indicated that all the prospects for trade, economic and investment cooperation with the Azerbaijani ambassador will be discussed in detail, by going with a government delegation headed by him or by the first deputy to Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Azerbaijani ambassador.
    In turn, Mamdov said, "Basra is one of the most important Iraqi provinces in economic terms, and it is necessary to visit it to open the horizons for trade and economic cooperation between the local Basra government and Azerbaijan."
    He added that "the embassy delegation met with the presidency of Basra University, the Chamber of Commerce and the Basra Oil Company, in order to open joint cooperation in the near future and develop relations."
