Al-Sadr confirms the formation of a national majority and welcomes dialogue with the opposition
Shafaq News/ The leader of the al-Sadr movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, confirmed on Monday, his quest to form a national majority government.
This came in a tweet issued by Al-Sadr after a meeting with the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, and the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, at his residence in Al-Hanana in the Najaf governorate.
Al-Sadr said in his tweet, seen by Shafak News Agency: "Stop terrorism and violence against the people and partners, so we are still with the formation of a national majority government."
He added, "We welcome dialogue with the national opposition."
Earlier today, Monday, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi and leader of the Sovereignty Alliance Khamis al-Khanjar, arrived in Najaf to meet with the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr.
This visit comes on the initiative of Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani.
