With a wide smile, 11-year-old Information Officer Hee No Hillcott at Leaders Primary School raised her hand to welcome the students coming to study, while Alan Gutierrez, an English teacher, stood in front of the students in the class.
But hey, how can a 10-year-old girl, like Ziwar Tuana, be a school principal, and another one year older to be in charge of the school library? What is the problem? And what's the story? Learn more about all of that by reading this report.
In a step to develop the capabilities of its students and make them future leaders by relying on themselves and themselves if they face difficult circumstances, the “Educational Leaders Complex” primary school in Halabja Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has allocated one day for each week, which the students run for the school, where some of them become principals on that day Some work as a teacher, others are an information officer, including a librarian, and some take on other tasks.
Student Noah Gutiar during his work as an information officer within the school and receives students at the beginning of work.
In the beginning, the school administration was afraid of any collision or fight between students when implementing the idea in the school because of their young age and lack of experience in management and responsibility. But they astonished the school principals with their outstanding performance in running the school when they were between 6 and 11 years old. This encouraged them to do other similar activities that increase confidence in the children and enhance their personality.
One of the most notable characteristics that made the school so different from the rest of the other schools is that the test is not taken individually to the student, but rather to groups of 3 students each.
The student gets used to the individual exam, which makes him a selfish personality, but the group exam contributes to spreading the spirit of cooperation among students, according to school director Faisal Ibrahim. Exam results are distributed to the group members, so that everyone learns that a spirit of cooperation and sharing is the basis for success, a strategy that the West has relied on to develop education.
