On Sunday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party's candidate for the presidency, Hoshyar Zebari, issued a comment on the Federal Court's decision regarding his candidacy for the post.
"We respect the decision of the Federal Court to temporarily suspend our candidacy until the lawsuit filed by some of those who cling to the days before the reform is resolved," Zebari said in a Facebook post, which was followed by Mawazine News.
Zebari added, "We are confident that the judiciary will confirm what state institutions have confirmed in advance that we meet the conditions for candidacy, and that what is rumored is nothing more than a groaning for more clinging to power."
And the Federal Supreme Court decided, earlier today, Sunday, to stop the procedures for the nomination of Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency of the Republic.
And the court's decision, of which Mawazine News received a copy, stated that it "has decided to suspend the procedures for electing (Hoshyar Mahmoud Muhammad Zebari) for the post of President of the Republic temporarily until the case is resolved (17 Federal / 2022)."
And she added, "The decision was issued by the majority on 9 Rajab 1443 AH, corresponding to the sixth of February." Ended 29/R77
