The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, received Minister of Electricity Adel Karim, to discuss the ministry's plans and priorities in the next stage.
Al-Zamili called, according to a statement by his office, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, the ministry to develop an urgent plan to provide electric power in preparation for the coming summer, and to oblige the Ministry of Oil to secure the Ministry of Electricity’s needs of oil derivatives, noting that great importance was given to full coordination with the ministries of oil and finance, To ensure adequate energy production, ensure fair distribution to all governorates, and focus on areas with large population density.
Al-Zamili stressed the need to put an end to the recurrence of attacks and terrorist operations targeting energy towers from time to time, especially with the approaching summer, stressing that the next government program must include finding serious treatments and solutions to end the electricity crisis because it is directly related to the lives of citizens and what contributes to Stirring the wheel of the national economy and employing local manpower.
According to the statement, "The two sides discussed the ministry's short, medium and long-term work plans, addressing the issue of the memorandum of understanding and the Gulf link, and emphasizing the need to take advantage of sober international companies in building refineries and power stations to meet Iraq's energy needs and to invest in associated gas that is currently untapped."
