     Baghdad: Omar Abdul Latif

Haider Al-Dujaili, head of the Association of Tourism and Travel Companies, revealed that there are about 500 fake and unlicensed companies in Iraq, calling for the activation of a new law to fine these companies an amount of 5 million dinars.
Al-Dujaili confirmed, “The Tourism Authority, in cooperation with the Intelligence Service, and the Tourism Security Directorate, has closed 19 unlicensed travel and tourism companies that operate randomly without obtaining official approvals,” adding that “the presence of fake and unlicensed tourism companies has continued since 2010 without a solution until The number has reached more than 500 companies.
He added, "Some of these companies were specialized in Hajj and Umrah trips, and some of them transported travelers, but after a while they started to establish tourist trips, despite the fact that they were not licensed."
And he indicated that “200 tourist companies in Baghdad are fake and unlicensed, and all the information about them is owned by the Association, and closing 19 of them is nothing in front of this number,” noting that “those campaigns are practiced only in Baghdad while the rest of the provinces are forgotten, and violators will be referred to the judiciary to fine them.” The sum of 500,000 dinars and his release to practice his work.”
He pointed out that "the whole issue is related to tourism security, as it is the supervisory authority, not the Tourism Authority," noting that "most of the contacts that these companies make to coordinate tourist trips are with unknown internal and external parties."
Al-Dujaili noted that “the association agreed with the authority to limit the number of tourism companies to 35 companies, because there are about 1050 companies on the street that the sector does not need, of which only 400 companies remain due to the closure that occurred between countries due to the “Corona” pandemic.
Al-Dujaili called for “the necessity of activating a new law that fines the violator of the tourism company registration law with an amount of 5 million dinars, and in the event of a repeat violation, he will be punished with imprisonment for a period of six months or a year.”
