The head of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, Faeq Zeidan, made an official visit to the United Kingdom, based on an official invitation from the British Foreign Office.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement, "The visit includes strengthening judicial relations between the two countries in order to strengthen partnership and exchange experiences in the field of building criminal capacity and enhancing legal accountability in the field of combating terrorism."
"During the visit, a memorandum of understanding will be signed regarding the foundations of partnership between the two countries in the field of training Iraqi judges and investigators and providing relevant technical assistance," he added.
The center added, "The President of the Supreme Judicial Council will review the Iraqi efforts related to combating terrorism in accordance with the applicable Iraqi judicial rules and procedures and in accordance with Iraq's obligations under international law."
The Center indicated that the Chairman of the Council was received by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Jaafar Al-Sadr, a number of the embassy staff and a number of diplomats working at the British Embassy in Baghdad.
