Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein stressed, during his meeting with members of the US Senate and Representatives, the need to support the developing democracy in Iraq.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement that the minister met with a large delegation of US senators and representatives on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, noting that the two sides discussed the efforts of parties and political leaders in forming the new government, and the importance of supporting the Iraqi government's role in its foreign policy.
The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of negotiations between Tehran and Washington to reach a solution to the Iranian nuclear file, because the tension in their relations will negatively affect the situation in Iraq.
