Barzani's advisor calls for full respect for the provisions of the constitution "without selectivity"
Shafaq News/ The advisor to the leader of the Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, stated on Monday that failure to adhere to the constitution does not preserve for Iraq its free union of people, land and sovereignty.
Masoud Haider said in a tweet seen by Shafak News Agency, "Our message to our partners in the country is: We ask you to respect the Iraqi constitution completely and without selectivity, and we are ready to implement all the provisions of the constitution within a specific timetable."
He added, "Abiding by this constitution preserves for Iraq its free union of people, land and sovereignty, meaning that failure to adhere to the constitution does not preserve for Iraq its free union of people and sovereign land."
On Saturday, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, renewed his government's position on the Federal Court's decision regarding the unconstitutionality of the region's oil and gas law, stressing that it is "unacceptable."
On Tuesday (February 15, 2022) the Federal Court issued a decision that the oil and gas law of the Kurdistan Regional Government was unconstitutional, with its obligation to hand over all oil production from oil fields in the region and other areas from which the Kurdistan Ministry of Natural Resources extracted oil and handed it over to the federal government represented by the Federal Ministry of Oil And enabling it to use its constitutional powers regarding oil exploration, extraction and export.
The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, described the decision as "unconstitutional" and was based on a law dating back to the time of the previous regime.
