After the oil companies, clan violence threatens educational institutions in Dhi Qar

Dhi Qar / Hussein Al-Amil
The tribal threat to the administration of Manar Al-Huda School in the district of Karma Bani Saeed (40 km southeast of Nasiriyah) aroused the discontent of the educational and community circles, as the Teachers Syndicate described it as a sinful assault and dangerous behavior that leads society to the abyss, while the local government administration in the aforementioned district described the incident as amplifying. In public.
The clan threat comes at a time when the Nasiriyah oil field has been closed for several days by the tribesmen who demanded appointment.
And in view of what the school administration has been exposed to, the Syndicate of Teachers and Educational Bodies in Dhi Qar organized on Tuesday (February 23, 2022) a protest sit-in in front of the Suq Al-Shuyoukh District Education Department, in which the school is included in its educational institutions. The Teachers Syndicate organized a protest sit-in to denounce the attack on the administration (Manar Al-Huda School), noting that “the Directorate of Education decided to suspend work at the aforementioned school and directed the Legal Department to file a complaint with the competent courts against those involved in the attack.”
The Teachers Syndicate in Dhi Qar issued a statement of denunciation that was followed by (Al-Mada) and it said, “The Teachers Syndicate and all the benefactors who love science and learning and who wish to extend the rule of law and the state denounce and denounce the sinful attack that was subjected to (Manar Al-Huda School) in the Al-Ziyad region of Karma Bani Saeed.” Indicating that "an armed outlaw group threatened the school principal and prevented him from attending classes."
And she added, "When the principal ignored this threat and performed his duty, he was surprised by the spread of some outlaws around the school to prevent him from going out for not complying with their illegal requests and violating all instructions," noting that "the school administration had previously been subjected to repeated pressures and threats, and the competent authorities were informed about it." .
The Teachers Syndicate called on “the Iraqi judiciary, the security forces, all benefactors and authentic clans to do their duty towards limiting attacks on the edifices of science and the educational family, as this is a dangerous behavior that afflicts society and pushes it into the abyss,” stressing that “state departments are not controlled by important parties or persons.” It was their influence.
In turn, the educational circles warned against the persistence of armed persons and groups in encroaching on the educational family and educational institutions, and Dr. Shahid Al-Ghalbi told (Al-Mada) that “the repeated attacks on the teaching and educational bodies have continued for several years, and we expected to activate the teacher protection law to reduce them, but this did not happen. He stressed, “the necessity of activating the aforementioned law to reduce the manifestations of violence targeting educational institutions and their administrations.”
Al-Ghalbi pointed out that "the teacher protection law was among the teachers' demands that they announced in their demonstrations, demonstrations and demanding activities that they organized over the past years," noting that "the delay in its implementation makes the educational process face more risks and challenges and exacerbates the state of deterioration that it is experiencing and caused by it." about the deterioration of the infrastructure of schools and educational institutions.
The Law No. (8) of 2018 aims to protect teachers and teachers from attacks, clan claims, and extortion as a result of or because of their official duties. Article 4 stipulates that a penalty of imprisonment for a period of no less than one year and not exceeding three years and a fine of no less than two million dinars and not more than ten million dinars, or either of these two penalties, shall be imposed on anyone who assaults a teacher, teacher, supervisor or educational guide while performing his duties His job or because of it, and to be punished by imprisonment for a period of no less than four years and a fine of no less than five million dinars and not more than ten million dinars, or either of these two penalties, whoever claims a clan claim in violation of the law against the aforementioned segments.
On the other hand, in an interview with (Al-Mada), the director of Karma Bani Saeed district, Ali Saleh Al-Hilu, described the incident that occurred in the aforementioned school, which falls within the administrative boundaries of the aforementioned district, with media magnification. A detachment is close to the scene of the accident,” adding that “the detachment did not find armed persons near the school, nor did it notice a serious threat or intrusion into the school.”
And he indicated that "the principal of the school filed a lawsuit and his statements were written down in court," noting that "what happened is due to a previous dispute between the principal of the school and one of the social figures in the region."
Noting that "the social figure had previously submitted a complaint to the local government against the school director, and it, in turn, submitted it to the Education Directorate, but so far it has not been finally resolved."
Al-Helou pointed out that "the transfer of the facts of the accident took place in a very exaggerated manner by social media and media sites," calling on the teachers' union and the media to verify the truth of what happened before issuing statements or permits to the media and circulating the news.
In early 2017, the Teachers Syndicate in Dhi Qar held a conference on the repeated assault on educational cadres and ways to limit them under the slogan (Protecting the teacher is a national and legitimate duty), in which sheikhs and clan elders participated, while the participants called for a safe environment that enables the teacher to convey his humanitarian message. And reduce the negative aspects that target the educational process.
