, a leader in the Kurdistan Democratic Union, Mahmoud Khoshnaw, confirmed that the calls for the enactment of a new electoral law in the region came to ensure justice and equal opportunities.
In an interview with Mawazine News, Khoshnaw said, "The current law was enacted in 1992 and 7 amendments were made to it, and now we demand the enactment of a new law to keep pace with development and to be an update of the electoral law."
He pointed out that "the current law does not guarantee justice in terms of quotas for Turkmen and Christians, as their entitlements often go to other regions or governorates. Therefore, we demand the new law, as well as updating the electoral laws, the voter register, the commission, and others, which took place after 2003 until now." Ended 29/A 4
