Today, Wednesday, the representative of the Haider Habib Extension bloc set the legal path for sending the federal budget bill for 2022 to the House of Representatives, while stressing that the parliamentary demands of Finance Minister Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi to send the budget is limited to viewing it only.
The representative of the Parliamentary Extension Bloc, Haider Habib, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the government is now not within its powers to send the general budget for 2022," noting that "the budget is the financial and economic vision for the next government."
He pointed out that "some deputies called on the Minister of Finance to speed up sending the budget to the House of Representatives, but not to vote on it or discuss it, but only for information."
He added that "sending the budget, informally, to be reviewed by members of Parliament will help speed up the voting process on it, if the next government is formed and its amendments are agreed upon."
The Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, had previously issued a directive regarding the federal budget for the year 2022.
The Council’s media department said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, directed the General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives to address the General Secretariat. To the Council of Ministers to send the federal budget for the year 2022.
