Shafaq News/ A parliamentary source revealed, on Saturday, that there is a "conflict" between the political blocs to fill the membership of the permanent committees in the Iraqi parliament.
The source told Shafak News Agency; "The large blocs presented more than five candidates for five specific parliamentary committees," stressing that "these blocs presented (50) candidates for the committees, which are supposed to include only 19 deputies in their membership."
He added that "there is a struggle and competition among the political blocs over the membership of the permanent committees in Parliament."

The source continued; It is assumed that "in each membership of each committee, the number of its members shall not exceed 19, and the distribution of members to the committees shall be equal," noting that "the number of candidates for the aforementioned committees reached between 40-50 candidates."
On Saturday, the representative of the New Generation bloc, Omid Muhammad, revealed the reasons for adjourning the parliament session, after it was held in less than half an hour, indicating that some political blocs did not present their candidates for membership in parliamentary committees.
On February 28, 2022, the House of Representatives voted to name 25 permanent parliamentary committees.
