, a member of the House of Representatives, Amir Al-Maamouri, said on Thursday that setting a session to vote on the presidential candidate is "still early" because the period of verifying the candidates' information has not yet been completed.
Al-Maamouri added in an interview with "Al-Sabah" newspaper, which was followed by Mawazine News, that "the two Kurdish parties are still discussing this file, but so far no outcomes have emerged from those discussions."
He continued, "What is required of the Presidency of the Parliament, after examining the papers of applicants for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic, is to determine the day of the session subject to political consensus, and in all cases, the Presidency of Parliament is obligated to set the session for a period not exceeding next week."
