India expresses 'deep regret' after missile launch
The Indian army "accidentally" fired a missile towards Pakistan, the Indian Defense Ministry said Friday, expressing "deep regret".
"As part of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental launch of a missile" on Wednesday and its landing in an "area of Pakistan", it said in a statement, confirming that a high-level investigation had been opened.
The two nuclear-armed states have been locked in a decades-old border dispute over the Kashmir region.
