".

US State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters that Americans who travel to Ukraine to fight could face criminal prosecution, be captured or die by the Russians for fighting on Ukraine's behalf.
He added that the United States would not be able to evacuate Americans from Ukraine at any time.
The spokesperson said the State Department encourages US citizens to help Ukraine in "constructive" ways through humanitarian aid and other means.
"We continue to urge US citizens not to travel to Ukraine for their own safety regardless of the primary purpose, and we continue to encourage them to dedicate their energies toward safe, constructive, volunteer or civil society activities," Price said.
Asked by CNN whether the US State Department was aware of US citizens who had traveled to fight alongside the Ukrainians, Price said this is not being tracked because US citizens are not required to record the reason for their travel abroad.
