    The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ways to strengthen Turkey's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

    A statement issued by the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region stated, "Within the framework of the work of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met this afternoon, Saturday, March 12, 2022, with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Turkish Republic."

    The statement added that the two sides discussed in the meeting opportunities and ways to strengthen Turkey's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, expand areas of joint cooperation and enhance trade and economic exchange.

    The situation in Iraq and the challenges facing the political process in Iraq formed another focus of the meeting, in which the two sides agreed on the importance of the Iraqi forces and parties reaching a common understanding, getting out of the state of political stagnation and forming the next Iraqi federal government in a way that reflects its components, according to the statement.

    Regarding the relations and problems of Erbil-Baghdad, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, affirmed the will of the Kurdistan Region to solve the problems once and for all through dialogue and on the basis of the constitution.

    The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region in general, the war on terrorism and security risks, and they agreed on the importance of multilateral and international work and endeavor to maintain security and stability.
    It is noteworthy that the President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

    The meeting discussed the political situation in Iraq, the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, Turkey's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the latest developments in Ukraine and the situation in the region as a whole.

    It is noteworthy that the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, attended the opening ceremony of the forum's work, on Friday, March 11, 2022, along with a remarkable number of world leaders at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

    Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

    During the speeches, the challenges and problems facing the world, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the role of diplomacy and efforts to resolve battles and clashes, the importance of maintaining security and stability and the Vienna talks were highlighted.

    On the sidelines of the forum, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, had a meeting with Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

    During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the situation in Ukraine, the effects of the war and its repercussions, the relations of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Qatar, the situation in Afghanistan and the region in general.
