Territory Government: We are not separatists, and we have not acquired Basra oil
Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Regional Government, on Wednesday, underestimated the importance of the accusations leveled at it regarding the attempt to secede from Iraq, and the consolidation of relations with the Jews, while confirming that these accusations did not reflect the official position of the federal government, at the same time, it denied allegations of its acquisition of governorate oil. Basra is the southernmost point of the country.
The spokesman for the regional government, Jutiar Adel, said in a press conference held today, "Those who claim that we are separatists or otherwise, this does not represent the official position of the Iraqi government, and there are hidden purposes in directing such accusations against the region that are baseless," adding by saying "We know who is behind these allegations and we will address them."
He continued by saying, "Often they accuse the region of acquiring Basra oil, and that Kurdistan is being reconstructed with it," adding that "this is not true and the region spends its imports on reconstruction and construction, and there is a vast difference in economic and urban development and in other areas between the region and other Iraqi provinces."
He concluded by saying, "We will continue with this approach and this policy, and we will have bigger projects in the interest of the region and its people."
