Experts deny the existence of a financial crisis: Revenues increased 3 times

Baghdad/ Firas Adnan
Experts denied the existence of a financial crisis in Iraq, stressing that the state's revenue has tripled within one year, noting that facing the high prices is not by holding traders accountable for the lack of legal support, but by competing with them by increasing the vocabulary of the ration card and that it is distributed monthly throughout the year .
Economist Thaer Al-Faili said, "Iraq has great wealth, and that the state's revenue has tripled within one year."
Al-Faili added, "This improvement in revenues is accompanied by an economic crisis that affects the poor, and this can be considered a mismanagement."
He pointed out, "The financial management suffers from a clear confusion, as Iraq does not suffer from a financial crisis at all, and not everything that affects the world is affected by it."
Al-Faili pointed out that "the crisis between Russia and Ukraine led to countries affected and other beneficiaries, and Iraq was supposed to be the first beneficiary."
He continues, "Economists, whether on the official or academic level, have proposed many solutions, and the solution to the crisis is very simple, with the availability of financial liquidity in a way that made us complain about the surplus, not the deficit."
Al-Faili promised, "The current crisis is artificial and has led to an increase in prices, and the cause is intertwined between corruption and mismanagement in addition to political conflicts."
For his part, the other expert, Mustafa Hantoush, stated that "the House of Representatives, through a series of hosts that it made to ministers concerned with the financial and economic file, is trying to show to society that it is following the issue of high prices."
Hantoush added, "The treatment of any defect related to the economic situation is not only through security measures, but we need plans characterized by depth and philosophy and avoiding mistakes."
He finds, "Resorting to distribute food rations to citizens or cost-of-living allowances is a correct procedure, but it is temporary, and therefore we will have a decrease in prices for a specific period of time."
And Hantoush stated, "The threat to launch security forces to monitor prices and hold traders accountable is an incorrect procedure," stressing that "the merchants have bought their goods with their money and did not seek the help of the government, but in a free economy."
He explained, "Resort to these procedures is when the government resorts to selling goods from its strategic storage to merchants and requires them to abide by specific prices."
Hantoush stressed, "The state's strategic storage is zero, so everything that comes to the official stores is distributed directly within the ration card items."
Hantoush demanded, that "there should be measures of an economic nature through which it is possible to control the market by taking advantage of the state's capabilities in storage and marketing in a way that creates competition with trade, and in this way we guarantee the descent of prices."
In addition, the economic expert, Abdul Rahman al-Mashhadani, confirmed that “the law that is being brandished in controlling prices at traders dates back to 1971, and it concerns goods produced in the socialist sector, and this law was abolished years ago.”
Al-Mashhadani continued, "The law does not contain a text that allows the Ministry of Commerce to monitor or monitor merchants. Years ago, merchants were arrested for the issue of prices, and they were released after that because there was no legal justification to hold them accountable."
He warned against “resorting to measures that compel merchants to refrain from importing, but the government will not be able to fill this void,” noting that “the government’s only option is to bring down competition for merchants by increasing the items of the ration card and that its distribution be monthly throughout the year.”
Local markets are witnessing a clear rise in prices with the advent of the month of Ramadan, despite the government taking a number of measures, most notably the distribution of ration card items and cost-of-living allowances for some vulnerable groups in society.

Economist Thaer Al-Faili said, "Iraq has great wealth, and that the state's revenue has tripled within one year.

Compared to what, the covid year? As was rightly revealed, a real comparison would be to compare with a normal year. The numbers are not prosperous and not tripled.
