    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Water Resources revealed the data of the upcoming summer agricultural plan, while indicating that there is a slight increase in water storage.
    And the spokesman for the ministry, Ali Radi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the ministry has taken internal measures to ensure that water quotas are secured for all sectors in general, especially with regard to the issue of the needs of the agricultural sector and securing drinking water as well as other uses, as well as procedures related to The technical file for negotiations with neighboring countries, upstream countries, and Iraq's water rights.
    He pointed out that "the ministry's plan to release water quantities from dams and reservoirs according to the actual requirements and need, as well as a plan for water distributions to secure all the main requirements and deliver water quotas to all beneficiaries, especially the governorates of Al-Dha`ib, which are usually the most affected, due to the overrun of water quotas."
    He continued, "The ministry has embarked on a major campaign to remove abuses, purify and clean the streams and sewers, especially from the shamlan plant and the flower of the Nile, as well as controlling water distributions through the application of the Marashna system, a system followed in distributing water quotas among beneficiaries."
    He explained, "Coordination is continuing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through holding meetings and communicating with all levels in order to identify and emphasize the main axes regarding the achievement of Iraq's water rights, especially in the conditions of climatic changes taking place in the region and the lack of water revenues in the past period."
    Radi stressed, "Negotiations are continuing to achieve two principles, the first is to guarantee Iraq's water rights, and the second is to divide the damage in periods of water scarcity."
    He added, "Iraq suffered from a scarce period in the last water season, which led to resorting to the available water storage in dams and reservoirs, and consequently a clear decrease in the level of storage," noting that "the amount of rain and torrential rains caused a slight increase in the level of water storage in dams and reservoirs." .
    He continued, "The water storage and the quantities of water revenues received in the spring season and the melting of snow will give clear data and pictures of the amount of the upcoming summer agricultural plan," noting that "the plan will be jointly built between the Ministries of Water Resources and Agriculture through meetings of the higher committees in this regard."
