Al-Kazemi announces the allocation of funds in the 2022 budget to support art and culture
Shafaq News/ Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced on Thursday that the financial budget for 2022 will include support for the art and culture sectors.
Al-Kazemi's media office stated, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that the latter received a group of Iraqi artists to discuss the problems faced by the Iraqi artist, and the obstacles faced by artistic production.
During the meeting, Al-Kazemi stressed that the government supports the Cinema and Theater Department, and the next budget will include paragraphs to support the artistic and cultural fields; In response to the demands made in this regard, as well as paragraphs to support the Iraqi drama; In order to advance it, given its importance in addressing some of the phenomena and negative aspects.
He pointed to the role of art and artists in promoting correct human and societal values, calling on artists to make artworks a catalyst for promoting love and tolerance, improving performance and raising public taste.
It is noteworthy that a number of Iraqi artists mobilized during the past few days to organize a vigil in front of the Green Zone, the center of political decision-making and governance in the country, to protest the Iraqi government's intention to close the Cinema and Theater Department, considering it a "losing company."
