Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the departure of Madeleine Albright, the former US Secretary of State, with a note in which she justified the death of Iraqi children due to the sanctions imposed on their country.
In a post on her "Telegram", Zakharova said that "Albright died on the eve of the 23rd anniversary of the start of NATO forces' bombing of the former Togoslavia on March 24, 1999, and described the late US minister as a "theorist" of this operation."
"Albright's record of 'achievements' is not limited to the Balkans," Zakharova added, noting a statement Albright made in an interview with CBS' 60 Minutes on May 12, 1996.
When the announcer asked her, "We heard that about half a million children died, and this is more children than those who died in Hiroshima. Is the price worth it?" Albright replied:
"Has Albright been subject to any sanctions? No, and even a memorial was erected for her in Kosovo for killing Serbs," Zakharova asked, noting that among those present at the inauguration ceremony of that monument was the "president" of Kosovo at the time Hashim Thaci, the former field commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who "Human Organ Trader, Serb Organs Killed by Americans".
"(It's all) to help understand who we are facing in this world," Zakharova concluded.
