Representatives from Basra called on the federal government to pay the province's dues, which amount to 22 trillion dinars, stressing that the amount is due and is audited by the Financial Supervision Bureau.
The representative of the province, Faleh Al-Khazali, said in a television statement, which was followed by (Al-Mada), that "the representatives of Basra sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning to pay Basra's entitlements owed by the federal government."
Khazali continued, "This came based on Law No. 8 of 2021 and its amendments, Federal Financial Management Law No. 6 of 2019 and Basra's financial benefits."
He pointed out that "these amounts are audited by the Financial Supervision Bureau and amount to more than 22 trillion dinars, and they are due to the Basra Governorate, which suffers from poverty, deprivation, deprivation, cancerous diseases, the expansion of slums, the delay in development projects, the spread of environmental pollution and everything that would touch its rights."
Al-Khazali stressed, "In order for the federal authorities to meet the entitlements of Basra, they do not need to enact a new law, but rather that this be by a decision issued by the Council of Ministers."
And he stated, "The representatives of the governorate in Parliament hold the government responsible for paying those amounts as they are due."
Khazali added, "The failure to implement the commitment will prompt us to take more severe and strict measures to defend the rights of Basra."
