Today, Monday, member of the Patriotic Union, Muhammad Khoshnaw, identified points of disagreement with the Kurdistan Democratic Party over the position of the President of the Republic, while calling for a dialogue between the two parties to resolve the nomination of the President of the Republic.
Khoshnaw said, "The Union is not insisting on nominating its candidate for the presidency, and its insistence focuses on the importance of continuing the previous political agreements in managing positions in the Kurdistan region, as well as federal positions with the Democratic Party."
He added, "The Democrat has assumed the positions of the presidency of the Kurdistan region and the presidency of the government of the region, and according to the agreements, the position of the president of the republic must be from the share of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan."
He continued, "There is a disparity and disparity in attitudes, as the union presented its candidate, Barham Salih, within the national space and not through a specific political alignment, as happened with the Democratic candidate, and the legislator stipulated a two-thirds quorum in the presidential election session, and this is achieved in the national space."
He stressed that "there are many commonalities and differences with the Democrat, including the election law in the region, the Kurdistan Commission, the management of the energy file, and the issue is related to the quality of the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, and the Democrat's attempt to seize the position of President of the Republic by bullying must stop."
He pointed out that "the president's nomination is related to the agreement of the two sides of the current political equation in Iraq, the (Save the Homeland) coalition and the guarantor third, and a Kurdish party should not go towards a Shiite party and leave the other, as political balances are an essential factor and the democrat wants to benefit from his rapprochement with the parties of the tripartite alliance. The rest is to strike the Kurdistan Union."
Khoshnaw called on the Kurdistan Democratic Party to return to understandings and political dialogue to resolve the nomination of the President of the Republic in order to prevent an imbalance in the Kurdish balance that deepens the crisis, noting that "any initiative between the two parties requires the Democrat to listen to the calls of the Union and the Iraqi forces that support the unity of the Kurdish rank and that positions are taken equally."
