, the Integrity Commission reported, today, Tuesday, that the work teams of the Nineveh Investigation Directorate seized "cases of abuse of public money" by more than 48 billion dinars.
The commission's investigations department said, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the work teams composed in the Nineveh Investigation Directorate, which carried out a number of seizures based on judicial notes, were able to arrest those accused of trespassing on state real estate in the governorate," noting that "a number of arrests were made based on judicial notes. The arrest of officials in 6 housing cooperative societies that cut up and sold state-owned agricultural lands in exchange for sums of money without obtaining fundamentalist approvals.
The department added, "11 heads and members of these associations were seized, which are (Al-Salam cooperative for retired housing, the banks of the Tigris, commercial families, housing for farmers, housing for employees of the Nineveh Water Directorate, and housing for employees of the General Company for the Pharmaceutical Industry)", pointing out that " The defendants trespassed on 537 dunums of agricultural land belonging to the Ministry of Finance.
The department stated, "The defendants sold nearly (4,000) plots of land after cutting them up," noting that "the estimated value of the lands exceeded (48,000,000,000) billion dinars."
And the circuit pointed out, "to organize fundamentalist arrest reports in the operations, and present them, along with the 11 defendants, who were arrested to the judge of the Nineveh Investigation Court specialized in integrity issues, who decided to arrest them in accordance with the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code."
