For his part, US Ambassador Matthew in Baghdad stressed that "the United States of America is working to provide all opportunities, provide the requirements for museum work, participate in excavation field work, and train Iraqi cadres in special courses in coordination with American museums, as well as strengthening bilateral relations between the two parties to serve common interests, especially Returning the stolen antiquities, which America is working to return to its original homeland, Iraq, and we have already started by returning last year more than 17,000 different antiquities.
The US ambassador in Baghdad stressed "his country's keenness to assist Iraq in the antiquities and heritage sector and to work together to restore the lost antiquities through international forums and global organizations such as UNESCO, ISESCO and others."
The American ambassador, accompanied by the head of the Antiquities and Heritage Authority, toured the halls of the Iraqi Museum, expressing his "great admiration for the Iraqi antiquities and the progress and prosperity of the Mesopotamian civilization that astounded the world in the field of law, science, and others."
