The Iraqi judiciary reverses the two-year prison sentence against former Finance Minister Rafie Al-Issawi
Shafaq News/ On Thursday, a judicial source said that the Court of Cassation overturned the suspended two-year prison sentence against the former Minister of Finance, Rafie Al-Issawi, in a case related to integrity.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, that the court also decided to release Al-Issawi on bail.
Last February, the Karkh Investigation Court in the capital, Baghdad, issued a suspended sentence of two years in prison against former Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi.
And the Supreme Judicial Council announced in June of the year 2020, the release of former Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi on bail, after the absence of evidence against him according to terrorism.

Al-Issawi, who belongs to the Union of Iraqi National Forces (Sunni Alliance) bloc, held the position of Finance Minister in the Iraqi government between 2008-2014 when Nuri al-Maliki was prime minister, and al-Issawi resigned from his position before the end of his duties after being accused of supporting terrorism.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, that the court also decided to release Al-Issawi on bail.
